Don't drop your guitar!

Posted by Pastor Ron Thursday, December 24, 2015 5:41:00 PM
Don't drop your guitar! It is easy for the strap to slip off of an acoustic electric guitar because the end pin that holds the strap is oversized. There are a couple of commercial solutions in the $10-20 range but this one is 1) free 2) better. Click on the picture below to open the gallery and then click on each... read more

Thankful I could have a $900 tooth pulled

Posted by Pastor Ron Monday, May 19, 2014 8:29:00 AM
Thankful I could have a $900 tooth pulled I'm thankful that I get to go to the dentist today (again) a week after having #31 pulled. This is just a one week post extraction check up to have stitches removed and see how the bone graft is doing. It was back in February that the crown popped off and I first went to the dentist. They... read more

Be Vigilant

Posted by Pastor Ron Monday, May 05, 2014 3:06:49 PM
Be Vigilant As Believers we need to be vigilant. As fathers and mothers we need to be vigilant. As pastors and elders we need to be vigilant. We need to carefully guard that which has been entrusted to us. Out faith, our children's faith.. the Faith of the church. There is a hostile world out there... read more

BFF! Really?

Posted by Pastor Ron Saturday, February 08, 2014 11:30:00 AM
BFF! Really? BFF - best friends forever! Really? First of all, what is a friend? Our youngest daughter didn't diminish the value of that precious word by throwing it around loosely. She recognized early that between acquaintances and friends there were what she called 'franks'. More that acquaintances... read more

Coming up on 47 headed for 38 Over a third of century in ministry with Village Missions. The picture above was taken at Camano Chapel in Pastor Bill's office just before we left for our first church in Arago Oregon in March of 1979. It was 38 years ago in November that I did a series of Sunday evening sermons at... read more

When the tide is out

Posted by Pastor Ron Wednesday, October 09, 2013 10:17:00 AM
When the tide is out "When the tide is out the table is set" is a old saying of the Northwest Native Americans. Another saying I've heard: "When the tide is out the beach stinks." Actually both are true I suppose.. plenty to eat if you hold your nose. (Personally, I'm not offended by the smell of low tide unless ... read more

There are some battles you will not win

Posted by Pastor Ron Tuesday, March 26, 2013 7:06:00 AM
There are some battles you will not win Especially battles against a faux foe! Knowing the real enemy is of primary importance. You need to know who your real enemy is. You need to know your enemy's strength and weakness. And you need to know your enemy's objective. Everything else becomes a diversion and fighting a faux... read more

I like things that are built to last

Posted by Pastor Ron Friday, November 16, 2012 8:24:00 PM
I like things that are built to last During my third year in Bible College funds were tight due to 1) my not having a job, 2) a surprise bill from the IRS, 3) a contract payment that was no longer coming in, 4) a house payment that still needed to go out, 5) a car that wanted gas for the daily 90 mile commute to school and 6) a... read more

I couldn't find it to buy or to borrow

Posted by Pastor Ron Saturday, April 14, 2012 5:28:00 PM
I couldn't find it to buy or to borrow So I made it. I needed to torque a 15/16" nut to 170 ft/lbs which is the same as a 170 pound guy standing on a foot long lever. However the nut was situated in such a way that a 1/2" drive socket would not work. And a 3/8" drive crows foot, even if I had one, probably wouldn't... read more
