This could be a difficult landing

This could be a difficult landing Imagine bringing your space ship in for a landing on this alien world. As you come in closer you realize that it is going to be a real challenge. It seems as if the entire surface is alive and moving. Ummm.... what are those writhing 'elephant trunk' things? Those are tube... read more

Day of the Crinoids

Posted by Pastor Ron Tuesday, February 15, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Day of the Crinoids I remember reading a Sci-Fi book as a kid called 'The Day of the Triffids'. It was about giant plants that could walk and were roaming around attacking people with poisonous whip like appendages and then eating them. This task was made much easier by the blindness... wait.... I shouldn't... read more

You just know this isn't going to turn out well

You just know this isn't going to turn out well At least for the surfer. For the photographer (moi) it worked out quite nicely. This is what is known as a High Key image. The majority of the picture is very bright, almost to the point of being over-exposed. This makes the subject stand out in contrast. High Key images are often... read more

Another ambush predator

Posted by Pastor Ron Sunday, February 13, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Another ambush predator Look! We have a couple of big fat tadpoles in our pond. How cool. Look at them wobble around looking so clumsy. I wonder how long before they turn into frogs? Oh Look! We have a bullfrog in our pond. How cool. Look at him sitting there all fat and happy. I wonder what they eat? Google... read more

Bee Thankful

Posted by Pastor Ron Saturday, February 12, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Bee Thankful Well, maybe not so much if you are the bee, but this little yellow crab spider certainly should be thankful. Crab spiders are ambush predators. They wait for dinner to come to them then they dive right in. Literally. I use to be like that... wait for dinner to come to me and then dive... read more

Easy Diver ~ retracted prayer answered

Posted by Pastor Ron Friday, February 11, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Easy Diver ~ retracted prayer answered 7am I wanted a boat to make scuba diving easier. I walked the docks at the Port of Everett and prayed that God would give me a boat. Immature I know... asking God for stuff. As I stood halfway down 'L dock' facing West and looking at the looming white bow of a large boat, I had an... read more

Our Friday Harbor respite on Lopez Island

Posted by Pastor Ron Thursday, February 10, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Our Friday Harbor respite on Lopez Island Out there past Cannery Landing and the Washington State Ferry dock between San Juan Island and Brown Island. We would anchor in 60' of water and stay for a month. Click on photo above for more Friday Harbor pictures. We towed a whaler and carried our kayaks on top so once anchored ... read more

Go to your room!

Posted by Pastor Ron Wednesday, February 09, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Go to your room! It was 'The Joke that wasn't funny'. I spent so much time laying down beside this engine working on it that our son Paul would scold "Go to your room!" every time I removed the dinning table and opened the hatch. At that time it didn't look quite as inviting as this picture with the ... read more

Buy the fish and I'll throw in the boat

Posted by Pastor Ron Tuesday, February 08, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Buy the fish and I'll throw in the boat We always took care of Arwetheryet, considering it a gift from God. That is an amazing story of retracted but still answered prayer that I intend to share here in the near future. Arwetheryet (so named because it was slow and we had kids onboard) had taken us throughout Puget Sound, the ... read more

Good friends help you clean the bottom

Posted by Pastor Ron Monday, February 07, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Good friends help you clean the bottom Some folks have to buy their good friends for $100 to wash the bottom. Not us. Ours are worth much more and they don't stop being our friends once the bottom is clean. Several years ago we were getting Arwetheryet ready to sell and needed help washing and prepping the bottom for... read more
