Cranky cabbies are no fun!

Posted by Pastor Ron Monday, March 28, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Cranky cabbies are no fun! Probably my least favorite fish... especially when it's nesting season and they are guarding eggs. They can get down right nasty and they will charge a diver and actually bite. The one pictured above is close to three feet long. Fortunately they don't have much in the way of teeth.... read more

Oh glorious day!

Oh glorious day! Above is one half of the infamous Puget Sound Convergence. When vapor laden ocean air sweeping from the South around the Olympic Mountains meets a similar stream of air coming around the North it rains. A lot. Sometimes the convergence is on top of Everett and sometimes it is further... read more

All is calm

Posted by Pastor Ron Saturday, March 26, 2011 7:00:00 AM
All is calm These Black Rockfish are hanging out completely at peace with my presence. Kelp Greenling on the other hand seem to zip around all frantic when they spot a diver. Most of my Kelp Greenling pictures are a blur of motion. Below is one of the few decent ones I have: Rockfish seem... read more

Six months is a long time! Welcome back Lincoln, Momsen (and Shoup on Monday.) Yesterday the big white number 72 appeared on the Everett waterfront again. (The photo above is from a return eleven years ago.) read more

I'm floundering around!

Posted by Pastor Ron Thursday, March 24, 2011 8:42:00 AM
I'm floundering around! And I'm late getting this post out. I try to have one ready to hit the website at 7am and even though I was up at 4:30 today it didn't happen. Seems like I've been going 100 mph ever since getting back from our trip visiting VM fields and potential Contenders Bible School start-ups. So... read more

Astoria Fisherman

Astoria Fisherman I like boats and I find work boats the most appealing of all. I applied a few tweaks to this picture using Photoshop to bring out what I saw beyond what the camera could record. This working fish boat was in yesterday's picture of the Cannery Pier Hotel. Here it is again. Our car is in... read more

One of my favorite places to stay

Posted by Pastor Ron Tuesday, March 22, 2011 7:00:00 AM
One of my favorite places to stay Cannery Pier Hotel in Astoria Oregon! Do you see the ship? No, not the little red, white and green fishing boat on the dock. The ship passing close behind the hotel. This ship: The Columbia River channel where the large ships pass under the bridge is close to the hotel. It is... read more

Every where I go I'm reminded

Posted by Pastor Ron Monday, March 21, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Every where I go I'm reminded I hear people say, 'How could a loving God allow such suffering in the world'. Often it doesn't come as a question but as an indictment against God! I've asked the same question myself many times. There is a lot I don't understand and won't be able to understand until the day I see the ... read more

If a bald eagle really were bald

Posted by Pastor Ron Sunday, March 20, 2011 7:00:00 AM
If a bald eagle really were bald ~ it would be called a buzzard. If you notice one of these things circling above or sulking in a tree nearby you might want to check your pulse... or take a shower. There is more than one spiritual application here. read more

Speaking of earthquakes~

Posted by Pastor Ron Saturday, March 19, 2011 7:00:00 AM
Speaking of earthquakes~ Even without the building stacked on top I'm not sure I would want to be be hanging out on this street corner during the expected 9.0 quake. I'm no expert but it seems that an upside down 'pyramid' lacks intrinsic stability. I hope that they have this thing firmly stabbed into the... read more
